Medical First Responder Recertification

To maintain Medical First Responder certification, the following sessions must be completed every 2 years:

  • Session #1-Naloxone Administration in Opioid Overdose and Airway Management with Bag Valve Mask
  • Session #4-Airway Management
  • Session #5-Spinal Precautions
  • Session #6-Trauma Emergencies and Treatments Part #1
  • Session #7-Trauma Emergencies and Treatments Part #2
  • Session #8-Medical Emergencies and Treatments Part #1
  • Session #9-Medical Emergencies and Treatments Part #2
  • N95 Fit Testing
  • CPR BLS (or equivalent) – Note: CPR is NOT offered in this weekend

Licensing Requirements

The conference offers sessions that meet Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for various licensing and re-registration levels.

Volunteer Medical First Responder (SHA)

Required Sessions Available at the Conference:

  • Sessions #4–9
  • N95 Fit Testing (required once before November 30, 2027)

Important Notes:

  • A limited number of N95 Fit testing appointments are available during the conference.  Please access your group’s local testing alternatives before signing up at the conference.  Priority will be given to groups/individuals who do not have testing options available to them.
  • N95 Fit Testing registration is available at the Registration Desk.
  • CPR certification is not included during this conference.

EMR – Practicing SCoP License

Required Sessions Available at the Conference:

  • Session #2–Airway
  • Mental Health (2 CME credits per year)
  • N95 Fit Testing every 2 years
  • Guest Speaker Sessions (20 CME credits per year with 18 credits available at the conference)

Important Notes:

  • A limited number of N95 Fit testing appointments are available during the conference.  Please access your group’s local testing alternatives before signing up at the conference.  Priority will be given to groups/individuals who do not have testing options available to them.
  • Register for N95 Fit Testing at the Registration Desk.
  • Please refer to the SCoP website for additional mandatory requirements.
  • CPR certification is not included in this weekend.

EMR – Non-Practicing SCoP License

BETTER IMPACT WEBSITE FOR MEDICAL FIRST RESPONDERS

The SHA Provincial Medical First Responder Program is excited to promote the Better Impact App for Provincial Medical First Responder Volunteers. This fantastic app allows you to easily upload and access all MFR registration requirements, communicate with the administration team, access the Medical First Responders Protocol Manual electronically, and log your annual service hours.
