South Saskatchewan First Responder Conference 2027

Hosted by the South Saskatchewan First Responder Conference Committee

(a Saskatchewan Non-Profit-Entity #10129612)

Strengthening Rural Emergency Care — Together

For 25 years, this conference has existed for one simple reason: to support the Volunteer Medical First Responders who quietly and selflessly serve communities across Saskatchewan.

What began in 2000 as a small training weekend has grown into a respected and deeply valued annual gathering. In 2027, we will celebrate our 25th anniversary — a milestone that reflects the dedication of our volunteers and the ongoing need for accessible, high-quality training in rural emergency care.

This event is more than a conference. It is a place where volunteers reconnect, share stories, strengthen skills, and return home better prepared to serve the people who depend on them.

Caring for Neighbours When It Matters Most

Across rural Saskatchewan, more than 1,300 Volunteer Medical First Responders answer over 10,000 calls each year. They are often first on scene at medical and trauma emergencies. In many areas, they provide critical care for up to an hour before EMS arrives.

They do this without compensation.

They respond knowing the person in need may be a neighbour, a coworker, a friend or a stranger. They carry the emotional weight of their work with quiet strength and deep commitment to their communities.

For many of them, this conference is their primary, or only opportunity each year for in-person and hands-on training. It is where they refresh lifesaving skills, learn new techniques, and build the confidence needed to respond when seconds matter.

A Conference Built by Volunteers, for Volunteers

The success of this conference is made possible through the generosity of professional EMS providers who volunteer their time as instructors, alongside respected guest speakers from Saskatchewan, across Canada, and the United States. Our organizing committee is composed entirely of active and retired EMS professionals who also volunteer their time to plan and deliver this event.

Keeping Education Within Reach

As a registered non-profit organization, our goal is simple: deliver meaningful, current, hands-on training while keeping registration costs affordable.

Because our delegates are unpaid volunteers, increasing fees to cover full event costs would prevent many from attending.

Your support directly helps us bring experienced instructors to MFRs from rural Saskatchewan, provide hands-on training equipment, keep registration affordable, and ensure volunteers return to their communities better prepared to save lives.

Sincerely,

South Saskatchewan First Responder Conference Committee
